Marcos García Lorenzo is an Associate Professor at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC) and a member of the VG-Lab research group and the MIMIC teaching innovation group (servicios.urjc.es/pdi/grupos-innovacion/mimic). He obtained his PhD in 2007 from the Technical University of Madrid; his dissertation was awarded the Extraordinary Doctoral Thesis Award of that year and received the European Doctorate distinction. Between 2008 and 2009, he worked at Trinity College Dublin (TCD) as a Research Fellow under a study leave. Throughout his career at URJC, he has held a total of five different single-person academic management positions, as defined in the URJC statutes, for a cumulative period of 145 months (12 years and 1 month). In an early stage of his career, his research focused on computer graphics. More recently, his work has shifted towards visualization and data science, as well as the application of machine learning and deep learning techniques in the bio-health field.
