  • Professor Sanjiv Prashar is a Full Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC), Spain, where he has held the position since December 2017. He is based in the Department of Geology, Physics and Inorganic Chemistry within the School of Experimental Sciences and Technology. He holds a D.Phil. in Chemistry from the University of Sussex, completed in 1992 under Professor Michael Lappert, and a B.Sc. (Hons) in Chemistry from the same university. His academic career includes postdoctoral research positions at the University of Alcalá and the University of Castilla-La Mancha, followed by appointment to URJC in 2001. Before becoming Full Professor, he served as Associate Professor at URJC from 2001 to 2017. He has also held several institutional leadership roles, including Vice Dean for Internationalization and Postgraduate Studies, Vice Dean for Sustainability, Head of Studies for the Degree in Experimental Sciences, and Department Academic Secretary. Professor Prashar¿s research focuses on inorganic chemistry, nanomaterials, catalysis, photocatalysis, bioinorganic chemistry, and biomedical and environmental applications. His work includes the design and synthesis of metallodrugs and nanostructured materials with biological activity, particularly for anticancer, antibacterial, and neurodegenerative disease applications. He also develops advanced photocatalytic materials for catalysis, water decontamination, and hydrogen production. He is a member of the URJC high-performance research group COMET-NANO and is a founding member of the Institute for Technologies for Sustainability. He has authored 110 peer-reviewed publications (ORCID: 0000-0002-6588-878X) in high-impact international journals and has presented more than 150 contributions at national and international conferences, including invited lectures. He has supervised six PhD theses and has participated in 30 national and international research projects, acting as Principal Investigator in four. His research includes collaboration with industry partners such as Chevron Phillips Chemical and Repsol, as well as contributions to intellectual property through patents on functional materials for biomedical and environmental uses. Alongside his research profile, Professor Prashar has extensive teaching and academic development experience in Chemistry and Inorganic Chemistry at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has supervised Bachelor and Master theses, contributed to curriculum development aligned with European higher education standards, and coordinated teaching innovation initiatives. He has also participated in Erasmus+ projects related to STEM professional development and digital support in chemistry teaching. At the European level, he has played a major role in chemistry education and academic quality assurance through the European Chemistry Thematic Network (ECTN). He was appointed President of ECTN in 2021 and became General Secretary in 2024. Through this work, he contributes to the development of Eurobachelor and Euromaster quality labels, curriculum modernization, internationalization, and quality assurance in higher education.
