  • I hold a Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences from the University of Castilla la Mancha, in January 2000. In February 2003, I obtained a position as a senior lecturer, and since December 2019, I am full professor in Chemical Engineering at Rey Juan Carlos University.

My research has been centered around the synthesis of catalysts and their applications inside these lines:
Isomerization of n-butene to isobutene in order to increase the production of ETBE needed in gasolines formulation.  Polymerization of ethylene and propylene to get heterogeneous catalyst able to produce bimodal polymers with enhanced properties mainly for pipe applications.Biodiesel synthesis from microalgae to look for alternatives to fossil fuels using renewable energy like biomass. To develop these research lines, I have collaborated with Repsol company through 13 research projects, been the main researcher in 8 of them. These collaborations with industry have been joined to 4 PhD Thesis supervised.

Since 2007, I have been working on another research line, renewable hydrogen production through steam reforming of oxygenated compounds derived from biomass. In this research line, I have been the main researcher in 4 competitive projects from 2014 to date. Apart of these, I have participated in 15 research projects supported by public institutions. Working in renewable hydrogen production I have supervised 4 aditional PhD Thesis, and I am currently supervising two ones focused on hydrogen production through oxidative steam reforming of organic compounds derived from waste biomass pyrolysis fractions.

I have 72 publications with 64 articles in JCR-indexed journals, placed in the first and second quartile (Q1 and Q2). Additionally, I have contributed to 3 book chapters and supervised more than 50 End-degree projects. My research results have also been disseminated through 73 scientific congresses, mostly international predominating oral contributions.  I have 4 six-years research periods and 1 six-year transfer period according to National Commission for Assessment of Research Activity (CNEAI).
    Regarding
international collaborations, I made a postdoctoral stay at Utrecht University from February to September 2002, focusing on the synthesis and application of supported chromium catalysts for ethylene polymerization. I also collaborate with researchers from Waterloo, Lyon, Porto, and Salerno universities. I have participated in the organization of the Spanish Society of Catalysis (SECAT) meeting in 2005, the Iberian Adsorption meeting in 2008, the International Congress on Feedstock Recycling in 2011 and International Symposium on Hydrogen Power Theoretical and Engineering Solutions in 2017. From 2019 to 2022 I coordinated the Doctoral Program in Industrial Technologies at Rey Juan Carlos University.
