Presentación

  • Since finishing my thesis in the Department of Applied Mathematical Studies, University of Leeds, I have held various positions in universities in the UK, Belgium, Australia and Spain, including more than four years in research posts. First, I worked as Research Associate (seven months) and then Lecturer at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh (UK). After successfully applying for a research grant under the Royal Society of London's "European Science Exchange Programme", I spent a year as a post-doc at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium). Afterwards I worked as a Lecturer at the University of Kent (UK), followed by eight months as an invited researcher at the University of Adelaide (Australia). My subsequent position was as a Lecturer at the University of Sydney (Australia) and then, having obtained a grant from the Ministry of Education and Culture of Spain, I spent two years as a researcher at the Universidad de Salamanca. Afterwards, I worked as Ayudante de Facultad also at the Universidad de Salamanca, before moving to the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos where I currently hold the position of Profesor Titular de Universidad. In 2010, the quality of my research was given official recognition under Spain's I3 programme by the Ministry of Science and Innovation.  

    At the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, I have acted as Principal Investigator of five national research projects, thus securing continuous funding from October 2006 until August 2025. I also acted as Principal Investigator of a project financed by the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, related to the above-mentioned I3 award, and have participated as a researcher in a significant number of other projects - including national, regional and internal university projects - as well as in internally-classified high-output university research groups. In addition, I currently act as coordinator of the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos node of a national research network in which participate a large number of prestigious Spanish research groups.  

    My research interests are, broadly speaking, in ordinary, partial and difference equations, and more specifically are focused on completely integrable systems, with a particular interest in the connection with the Painlevé equations and their various generalisations.
