He subsequently held postdoctoral research positions at UCM, UNED, and CIEMAT. Since 2019, he has been a Professor at Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC), where he currently serves as an Associate Professor (Profesor Titular de Universidad) in the Department of Signal Theory, Communications, Telematics Systems, and Computation.
He has participated in a wide range of research projects at the European, national, and regional levels, including as Principal Investigator, collaborating with international companies, research centers, and universities, as well as through multiple contracts with industry. During a research stay at Freie Universität Berlin, he developed machine learning techniques for vision-based perception in autonomous vehicles.
He has authored a large number of scientific publications, including numerous articles in high-impact journals and international conference proceedings. His work has received widespread recognition, with a strong citation record and an established international research profile. He has served on several international committees, acted as Guest Editor for a leading journal, and regularly reviews for indexed scientific publications.
His research focuses on multisensory fusion techniques and perception systems applied to autonomous navigation in indoor and outdoor environments, precision agriculture, marine robotics, and social robots, as well as real-time system development using C++ and ROS. He also has experience in Grid and Cloud Computing, having worked in scientific computing infrastructure supporting the LHC¿s CMS experiment at CIEMAT.
He has received multiple recognitions for both his research and teaching activities, including official research and teaching quality evaluations. He currently serves as mobility coordinator for the Bachelor's Degree in Robotics Software Engineering and is an active member of the Intelligent Robotics Lab group and the ROS/ROS 2 community.
In the field of education, he has contributed to the development of innovative teaching tools, including a book chapter, a radio program, and several educational innovation projects.
