Presentación

  • I have got my BSc in Biology at Complutense University in 2009 in Madrid. Then I studied a
    master degree about therapeutics targets in cellular signaling at Alcalá de Henares University
    during 2009/2010 and I began my PhD studies on adipokines and genetic polymorphisms at
    the Lipid Lab in Fundación Jiménez Díaz in Madridin 2011. Later,once I achieved my PhD
    degree, I moved to Italy on March 2014 in order to continue my research formation. Under Prof.
    Trischitta and Dr. Menzaghi supervision I was able to publish six original papers during my
    permanence in the Endocrinology and Diabetes Lab in IRCCS Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza
    (San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy). My research there was focused on the study of adipokines
    as possible predictors of mortality and cardiovascular risk on type 2 diabetes. I had got the
    opportunity to attend several international congresses (i.e. ADA in US, EASD in Sweden) and
    nationals ones (i.e. SID in Sicily or Rimini) with poster presentations or oral communications.
    I travelled to Boston (US) with a one-year grant from Hearst Foundationin August 2016 to follow
    my post-doctoral studies on the diabetes field. Under Dr. Doria supervision (Epidemiology and
    Genetics Lab) in Joslin Diabetes Center (Harvard Medical School) for 13 months, studying the
    association between different serum metabolites with renal and cardiovascular disease in type
    2 diabetes using metabolomics as a tool to carry out it. I attended another ADA congress (San
    Diego, CA) during this period presenting a poster.
    I returned to Spain on September 2017 with a 4-year contract from Comunidad de Madrid
    and Universidad Atónoma de Madrid(Atracción de Talento 2017 Modalidad 2, BMD-5800)
    to investigate at the Gut Immunology Research Lab in Hospital Universitario La Princesa
    under Dr. Bernardo and Prof Gisbert supervision. My research there was focused on IBD and
    possible biomarkers of prediction to avoid invasive colonoscopy.I have analyzed the possible
    association between different migratory markers of monocytes and dendritic cells involved
    in ulcerative colitis and Crohn disease to discriminate those markers that could work as
    biomarkers of these diseases and also to study whether these molecules can act as
    discriminatory ones on the classification of ulcerative colitis or Crohn diseaseattending to their
    severity scores. In the same line, I studied the adipokine resistin as possible biomarker of
    Crohn¿s disease. Nowadays, I have a contract as Profesor Ayudante Doctor in Universidad
    Rey Juan Carlos where I am implicated on the study of the gut-brain axis in rats models.
