Dr. M.A. Garrido (PhD. 2006) is Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering at the URJC since 2011. The research activity was initiated in 2002, in the Polytechnic University of Madrid, with special dedication to the mechanical characterization of spider silks. His research has been focused, during the last years, on the mechanical and tribological characterization of coatings with industrial applications, simulating the operating conditions. Prof. Garrido is author of more than 60 scientific papers, published in journals included in the Science Citation Index, which have been cited more than 1100 times (h-index 20, acording JCR data base). His research has been funded through grants from the CICYT (Spanish National Science Foundation), European Union (7th Framework and H2020 programmes) and the local government (Comunidad de Madrid) as well as through contracts with major Spanish and European industrial enterprises (ABENGOA, ITP, ACCIONA, AIRBUS ...). In addition, the research activity was also developed in the United States, at Lehigh University, in a project related to the characterization of thin films deposited by sputtering technique. Actually, Prof. Garrido is the responsible from the URJC within the project "Advanced additive manufacturing for aerospace components (A3M)" funded by Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación.
