  • D. José María Escola Sáez is Full Professor of Chemical Engineering in Rey Juan Carlos University. He licensed in Industrial Chemistry in Extremadura University with Extraordinary Award in 1993. He achieved his PhD in Complutense University in 1998, obtaining Extraordinary Award as well. He was appointed Visiting Associate in Caltech during 1999 - 2000, wherein he carried out  a PostDoc stint under the supervision of professor Mark E. Davis. He joined Rey Juan Carlos University in 2000, where he gained tenure in 2002, being finally appointed Full Professor in 2018. His research was  initially focused on different subjects such as feedstock recycling of plastics to fuels, olefin oligomerization, polymerization and methatesis, biofuels production by hydrodecarboxylation of fatty acids and catalytic transfer hydrogenation of phenol.  Lastly, his research is devoted to thermochemical heat storage, methane dry reforming, hydrodearomatization/hydrodesulfurization of fuels, lignin catalytic upgrading and synthesis of mesostructured materials and hierarchical zeolites. He has participated in 19 projects funded by public institutions and in 13 contracts funded by enterprises, being main researcher in some of them. He has been coauthor of 84 artícles indexed in Scopus, with a Hirsch index of 40. He has been coauthor of 5 book chapters and of 2 Spanish patents and one European. He has cosupervised 8 PhD. He is member of different scientific societies (ACS, RSEQ, AAAS, New York Academy of Sciences) and has been acknowledged as Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC).
