  • José-Antonio Santos is Full Professor of Philosophy of Law at Rey Juan Carlos University (Madrid, Spain). He serves as Academic Secretary of the Department of Public Law II. Santos holds an LL.B. and a European Ph.D. in Law, both awarded with highest distinction, from Complutense University of Madrid and Rey Juan Carlos University, respectively. Among his many distinctions and honors are the Luis Portero Human Rights Prize, awarded to him by the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation of Granada (Spain). Santos has also been awarded prestigious research fellowships from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) as an experienced researcher. He is a Corresponding Member of the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation of Spain, where he is a member of its Philosophy of Law Section. He also serves as an Advisor to the Health Law Section of the Madrid Bar Association. In addition, he is a permanent member of the Research Centre for Intelligent Information Technologies (CETINIA). He is a member of the High-Performance Research Group on Artificial Intelligence and the High-Performance Research Group on Immigration and Cultural Diversity Management at Rey Juan Carlos University. He is also a member of the Mediterranean Observatory for Digital Culture & Tourism at the University of Salento (Italy), among other national and international research networks. Santos has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Law. In addition, he teaches in numerous national and international master's and doctoral programs in Law. He is the Director of the book series Educational Innovation in Legal and Social Sciences at Atelier Publishing. He has participated as both a principal investigator and collaborating researcher in various research projects. He is the author, editor, and translator of more than 100 scholarly publications in Spanish, German, English, and Italian. His research has focused, both throughout his career and currently, on legal hermeneutics; German and Italian legal philosophy; human rights and minority protection; constitutionalism and democracy; biolaw; and law and AI. José-Antonio Santos has held teaching and research stays at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, the Technical University of Munich, Goethe University Frankfurt, and the University of Göttingen (Germany); the University of Guayaquil (Ecuador); the University of Piura (Peru); the University of Salento (Italy); and National Taipei University (Taiwan). He has delivered invited lectures and conference presentations in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, China, Ecuador, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Poland, Romania, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Türkiye, and the United States. His invited presentations include lectures at Harvard University, Georgetown University, the University of Göttingen, the Technical University of Munich, Goethe University Frankfurt, and Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.
