  • Antonio José del-Ama started his research career in 2006 at the Biomechanics and Assistive Technology Unit of the National Hospital for Paraplegics, becoming Group Leader from 2017 to 2019. Between 2008 and 2012, he interned at the Neural Engineering Group at CSIC (formerly the BioEngineering Group), getting his Ph.D. in hybrid lower limb exoskeletons for walking assistance. From 2015 to 2019 he also held a position as Assistant Professor at Castilla-La Mancha and Rey Juan Carlos Universities. In 2011 he was awarded the Technological Innovation Award from the Rodolfo Benito Samaniego Foundation. In 2019 left the Biomechanics laboratory and obtained a tenured position as Associate Professor in the Electronic Technology department at Rey Juan Carlos University. He is also a co-founder and member of the Commission of Medical and Health Engineering of the Association of Industrial Engineers of Madrid since 2012, and co-founder of GoGoa Mobility Robots. He has participated as a researcher and PI in several regional, national, and European projects, related to the development and evaluation of wearable robotic and neuroprosthetic technology for walking assistance. In 2024 he was appointed as coordinator of the Bioengineering group of the Spanis Committee for Automation (CEA) 
    His research interests include understanding the biomechanics of human motor function, human-exoskeleton interaction, control of lower limb exoskeletons for movement assistance, and the combination and control of neuromodulation techniques with robotics.
