David received the Ph.D. degree (with international mention) in machine learning for healthcare applications by the Rey Juan Carlos university in 2022. It focused on the development of unsupervised learning approaches to extract clinical knowledge of patients with chronic diseases. During her Ph.D., he was a visiting researcher at University of Pretoria, South Africa, focusing on applying unsupervised learning methods for high-dimensional clinical data.
Since April 2022 he has worked as Postdoctoral Researcher in the European Union's Horizon project WARIFA, building data-driven and interpretable predictive models. He has published several papers in international conferences and JCR journals, and he is a frequent reviewer in indexed journals in JCR. David has participated in several national and international research projects related to data-driven methods for healthcare. Additionally, David has a broad industry background, with different roles in several international projects in Ecuador, USA, Italy and Spain.
In September 2024, he joined to the University Rey Juan Carlos as Assistant Professor in the Department of Signal Theory and Communications. His main research interests include statistical learning theory, machine learning, data mining, feature selection, unsupervised learning, data augmentation, XAI methods and multimodal learning.
