Presentación
  • I am an Associate Professor of Botany at Rey Juan Carlos University (URJC). My work focuses on understanding ecological systems and promoting their conservation through advanced, data-driven approaches. I combine fundamental research in ecology and evolution with applied strategies for biodiversity management.

    Academic Impact and Leadership

My academic career is supported by a strong research record: 62 publications (25 in top-quartile journals) with 1,238 citations (h-index: 22).
    • Key Research Areas: My contributions span topics from plant-pollinator and plant-plant interactions to genetic adaptation under environmental change. I address applied challenges such as pollinator restoration and invasive species management.
    • Editorial Commitment: Reinforcing my dedication to scientific excellence, I serve as a Subject Editor for the international journals Plant Biology and Mediterranean Botany.
    • Funding and Leadership: I have secured approximately €775,000 as Principal Investigator (PI) in competitive projects and actively lead research and transfer initiatives involving more than ten researchers.
    • Mentorship and Collaboration: I have supervised a completed PhD and multiple undergraduate and master's theses, and I foster scientific dialogue through symposia and international collaborations (networks like GrENE-net and sINTERVAL).

    Knowledge Transfer and Sustainability

I am deeply committed to sustainability and the transfer of knowledge:
    • I am the Scientific Head of the Biological Big Data Laboratory at URJC, promoting data-driven solutions for biodiversity conservation.
    • As the Academic Coordinator for Environmental, Energy, and Social Sustainability at URJC, I oversee institutional strategies for biodiversity conservation and energy efficiency.
    • My transfer activities primarily focus on the conservation of crop wild relatives, including shaping national policies and contributing to the Spanish Red Book of Threatened Species.
    • I foster data literacy among researchers through specialized courses in statistics and programming to enable the application of advanced analytical tools.
